About the Role

Job Opportunity: Interior Designer – Chelmsford, Essex

We are recruiting on behalf of an established architectural firm in Chelmsford, Essex, seeking a skilled Interior Designer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative professional with experience in the hospitality sector to contribute to a variety of projects, including restaurants, bars, and F&B establishments.

Key Responsibilities:
FF&E Design: Develop FF&E designs and schedules, ensuring the selection of appropriate furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
Sourcing: Source samples and materials that align with the design brief and project requirements.
Client Presentations: Create and present mood boards and presentations to clients, showcasing design concepts and materials.
Technical Drawings: Produce detailed furniture layouts, elevations, and technical drawings to support the project.
Specification Writing: Prepare detailed specifications for ironmongery, sanitary ware, electrical layouts, finishes, joinery, and more.
Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers, managing project requirements and ensuring timely delivery of materials and designs.
Site Visits: Conduct site progress visits to monitor the implementation of design elements.
Quotations: Request quotations for FF&E items and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality and budget alignment.

Essential Skills and Experience:
Education: Degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design, with a solid understanding of UK building regulations.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of UK experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing work in hospitality projects (restaurants, bars, F&B establishments).
Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp, with the ability to produce high-quality technical drawings and design presentations.
FF&E Expertise: Strong skills in FF&E sourcing and specification, including preparing detailed schedules.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, suppliers, and contractors.

Additional Information:
Location: Full-time, office-based role in Chelmsford, Essex.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (1-hour lunch break).
Holidays: Four weeks holiday, with additional time off between Christmas and New Year.
Salary: Circa £30,000, dependent on experience.
